Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how My Trusted Trade ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website (the "Service"), a directory that helps homeowners find and compare local contractors. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information contractors provide. When a contractor submits a listing (or we create one on their behalf), we collect business details such as company name, phone, email, website, address, service areas, services, credentials, and photos.
Interaction data. When you view a contractor's listing or tap "Call" or "Visit website," we record that the interaction happened — along with which listing, a general source (for example, organic vs. an email link), the referring page, and a timestamp. This helps us show contractors how their listing performs. We do not require you to create an account or provide your name to browse.
Information you send us. If you contact us or sign up for updates, we collect what you provide (such as your email address and message).
Automatic/usage data. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and reliability.
2. Cookies and analytics
We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand overall traffic (such as page views, referrers, and device type) in aggregate. It does not use tracking cookies and is not designed to identify individual visitors. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Connect homeowners with contractors and route inquiries;
- Show contractors how their listing performs (views, calls, website clicks);
- Respond to your messages and send updates you request;
- Protect the Service and comply with law.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- With contractors: when you choose to call or contact a contractor, that communication goes directly to them.
- Service providers that host and power the Service — for example, our hosting/deployment platform (Vercel) and database provider (Neon).
- Legal reasons: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
5. Third-party sites and content
Listings may link to third-party sites (such as a contractor's website or public review profiles) and may show embedded content (such as maps or Google review counts). Those third parties have their own privacy practices, which we don't control.
6. Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes, then delete or de-identify it.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you by contacting us at the address below, and we'll respond consistent with applicable law. If you receive updates from us, you can opt out at any time.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, and the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
